This is only peripherally related to your post, but I agree with you about rape scenes and the evilness of the act itself. That said, I saw "Lovelace: A Rock Opera" on Saturday and was wary about how they would treat the rape scene in it. Fortunately, it was very tasteful and focused on Linda's strength of will.

Then again, it wasn't a horror film. A horror rock opera would be interesting, though.

Oh, and I can't recommend "Lovelace" high enough if you have a chance to see it.

Rachel: Holy fuck indeed!

SaltyDroid: Violence against microwaves kind of turns me on.

Nicholas: I don't think that being known for the BEST rape scenes is a good thing.

But Wes Craven does rape scenes better than anyone; he definitely knows how to make a modern horror movie really, well, horrific.

I've yet to see the new Last House (was going to tonight — decided to be domestic and cook instead) but his remake of Hills Have Eyes was so scary I had to watch it again the next day ... with my mom. She cried. I'm looking forward to his remake of Nightmare on Elm Street.

Haven't seen it {either one} :: But I must agree that rape scenes are almost always unwatchable. Artful cutaways demanded.

Violence against microwaves is a less serious problem.

I'm with you. It takes a lot for a movie to make me uncomfortable. A lot. But that rape scene literally made me want to avert my eyes. The last thing that did that was The Hills Have Eyes.

I really, really loved the original and was very satisfied with how this one did. Some recent remakes really ruin the entire story (friday the 13th, I'm looking at you) so I was really glad to see this one completely kick ass.

I think my reaction to the microwave was also "Jesus Christ!" Also, how about that scene at the kitchen sink. Holy fuck, eh?
